Ode to Earth

I am sorry for what we have done to You by defiling the waterways, laying waste to the landscapes, and making the air the repository of toxins. I am sorry for my arrogant attitude toward You. I am sorry the present and preceding generations of the civilized nurtured and took care of their own at the expense of Your dignity. It seemed such a sure sign of success for a short period, but not indeed for long. And now, the civilized and the rest of Your creation stand at the very door of the void.
