Descendants of Ahmed Pasha Rasheed رشيد باشا احمد احفاد
Family is a
blessing (2004)
Dear Family Members:
Its customary to talk about
how to divide the inherited resources of the family at the Wakf
but in 2004 Ihsan Rachid met Ahmed Adel Rasheed, his daughter Kismet,
nephew Hassan Telal Rashid
at Al Mouhame Sayid Hanafi’s office and thought about bringing together of
family. Back in the United States, Ihsan called me around the end of January, 2005 and said,
“I’d like to have a reunion,” and the idea of a reunion of the descendants of
Ahmed Pasha Rasheed on the Internet was born.
A parcel arrived from Ihsan and in it I discovered a copy of an old hand written
Arabic chart detailing the descendants of Ahmed Pasha which I transcribed and
published on a TEST WEB SITE. Soon, word
of another document reached me from my cousin Hussein Hany Rasheed in Abu Dabi and it arrived a week later by e-mail from his twin
brother Hassan Telal Rashid
late in February.
One of the youngest adults of
the family, Tammer Salem,
sent the following e-mail after news of the planned reunion reached him:
Subject: Rachid Family Reunion on the
WEB
Greetings to all the Rasheeds out
there.
My name is Tammer Salem (you might
already know me), a descendant from my mothers side
of the family.
I would just like to congratulate everyone who gave some time
for the creation of this website. Special thanks to Hassan "Punky" Rasheed who
spearheaded this effort and has put up an excellent site containing
information on our origins. I can definitely see the potential
of this site becoming the "Family Library" which will in time have a
wealth of information which we can proudly pass on to our descendants.
I would also like to encourage everyone to become active in
posting messages or finding whatever little information or suggestions you have
onto this forum. This will serve the purpose of not just creating
a website, but rather keep us all in touch with one another
which should be our primary goal. The family unit is a very important entity of
which one can draw much strength from.
Again thank you all and I hope to hear from you soon.
regards,
Tammer Salem
As e-mails shot across the
Internet and phone bills increased, voices of perfection started to arise out
of concern the data wasn’t accurate.
“There are too many wives…,” “There are too many Ala
El Din’s…,” “The spelling of Samiha is Semiha…,” and “Did Ahmed Pasha marry the granddaughter of
Mohamed Ali?” But we also realized that
perfection is a work in progress and we needed to create one document around
which all descendants can make their contributions.
There was one voice in
particular that stood out. I had sent
her an e-mail telling her that Alaeldin Rachid in Colorado
had shown me a picture of Faten Hamama
standing with his father (or grandfather) taken when they collaborated in
making a movie. She wrote back:
Dear Hassan
…Yes I am very enthusiastic about the web site and the way it is
going to link the family. This is what we call Selat Rahem in Islam. Dr. Abdel Salam el-Kerdany
Peace on him wrote this Aya on the Kerdany's Family tree :
(Sourat No 8 Al Anfal,
Aya 75 page 186 in Koran Karim.)
Family is a blessing, and a strength in life.
We are very lucky.
…About the movie of Faten Hamama, I'll search for it, video tape and translate it to
French and English. Consider it done.
As for the recipes, I'll send them to you, and I will have the
pleasure to cook them all for you when you come to Cairo. Meanwhile bel hanna wa
el shefa...
I will send you tomorrow first thing some information to add to
the family tree, concerning all the Tahrys….
Best wishes Eman
She is Eman el-Kerdany and clearly
she is sharing her sense of joy and genuine interest for this most significant
project.
Today, we are 23 in number
each with a motive to see this family project grow. Some want to learn about their roots; leave a
record or legacy to their children; rekindle contact with lost loves; exchange
and relive memories of childhood; pictures of new members as well as old; find
out where the descendants of Ahmed Pasha now live; brag about achievements;
play host or hostess; or plan a time to just sit down together, eat Kishk, Fatah or Um Ali and chit chat (الحبايب
دردشه ) once
again.
We also have a growing slate
of important requests and suggestions.

Quran Al Kareem
Surat 8. Al-Anfal,75
Al
Azhar English translation
And those
who believed afterwards, and emigrated and strove hard along with you (in the
cause of Allah), they are of you. But kindred
by blood are nearer to one another (regarding inheritance) in the decree
ordained by Allah. Verily, Allah is the
All-Knower of everything.

uns des autres d'apres le Livre de Dieu.
